U.C.C.A. Dress Code Policy
While we realize that each family has its own understanding of God's design for daily living, UCCA is an institution that is designed to teach our students to be modest as well as professional. We believe that our dress should not reflect ungodly philosophies and trends. While the standards set forth below may not be practiced in each individual home, they are institutional guidelines that allow us to teach our students to be ladies and gentlemen.
All students: Everyone is required to purchase the school shirt (polo shirts) as the Monday-Thursday school uniform to be worn with khaki's or navy blue as described below. The colors and number of shirts ordered is up to the individual family. On Fridays, students may wear a school T-shirt instead of the polo along with neat, modestly-fitting blue jeans.
All hoodies, jackets, etc. that are worn in the school classroom must also be the school
uniform. Only school uniform clothing may be worn in the classrooms.
Physical education classes and certain "active" field trips may require a school T-shirt and full-length shorts (to the top of the knee).
Ladies: Families are responsible for choosing the appropriate khaki or navy blue dress slacks, skirts, or capri's that girls wear with their polo uniforms. Slacks, culottes, or capri's should be modestly-fitting (not tight) and neat in appearance. If skirts or jumpers are worn, the hem line or slits should be no higher than the bottom of the knees when standing.
Make up should be limited to the junior high and high school classrooms. Nail polish, jewelry, etc. should be minimal and conservative in appearance (that is, it should be complementary rather than calling attention to itself).
Girls may wear dress shoes, jogging shoes, sandals, or sandal-like flip flops that have a more dressy appearance. Flip flops that look like beach wear are not permitted in the classroom.
Piercings should be limited to one in each ear. No other body piercings may be worn on school property.
Gentlemen: Boys should wear neat, modestly-fitting navy blue or khaki pants with the school uniform. Pants should neither be excessively tight nor excessively loose. They should be kept up around the hips/waist at all times.
Boys may wear dress shoes or jogging shoes, etc. No sandals or open shoes are permitted.
Boys are not to wear any piercings of any kind on school property.
Hair needs to be kept neatly trimmed: off the collar, off the ears, and out of the eyes.
Boys are not permitted to wear earrings on school property.
Older boys with facial hair should keep it neatly trimmed or shaven.
Note about "group associations": We believe that it is possible for a student to look "current" while maintaining high standards for morality and decency. Students will not be permitted to associate in dress with cultish, gang-like groups or styles that reflect an obvious and commonly understood anti-Christ-like attitude and message.
